Addin for link modules?

Is it possible to create addins for link modules, i.e., to add a menu item to call a DXL script on an open link module?

The addins folder (or -a command line argument) is only for formal modules.

As far as I'm aware, the answer to your question is 'no.' I may be wrong, but I think your only option is to use the Edit DXL window from the Tools menu. Paste the code in there and run it.

hi !

hmm ... of course you can !
You can add menus in modules using the good directories in your DOORS install ...
To add a dxl defining menu in the directory DOORS/version/lib/dxl/config/linkfiles may to allow you to add a custom menu.

To have a look to the createMenu and createItem functions in the help should be a good idea ;)

Enjoy !

Lets invent our own variable "LinkModAddins" and corresponding "DOORSLINKMODADDINS" variables.

[1] Create a link-mod addins directory sibling to your existing module addins directory; with suitable subdirectories and bla bla bla.  Add this directory to your existing "addins" environment variable.

[2] After debugging and you see this LinkMod menu in your formal module menus:

[3] Remove that directory from your "addins" variable

[4] Add that directory to the new variable "LinkModAddins"

[5] In your lib\dxl\config\link.dxl file near the bottom:

  • Insert this line: createAddinPathMenus((NLS_("DOORSLINKMODADDINS")))
  • I think before this line: autoRunDXLFolder((NLS_("lib/dxl/config/linkfiles")))

[6] Viola.

Of course, Catbert in IT  won't let you edit the DOORS install directory anymore.
